Mr Ian McLachlan AO
Non-Executive Director
Mr McLachlan has been heavily involved in Australia’s primary industry sector for some time. His involvement has included roles as chairman of the Australian Wool Industry Future Directions Task Force, president of the National Farmers Federation (NFF), chairman of the NFF’s Industrial Committee, deputy chairman of the South Australian Brewing Company (now Southcorp), director of Elders IXL, president of the Wool Council of Australia and member of the Australian Meat and Livestock Corporation (AMLC).
The Hon. Ian McLachlan was elected as a Member of the House of Representatives representing the seat of Barker in March 1990. He retired from politics in November 1998 after serving as both Minister for Defence and Cabinet Member during the first Coalition Government.
A graduate of Cambridge University, Mr McLachlan is married with three children and is currently president of the South Australian Cricket Association, chairman of Australian Wool Innovation, and board member of Cricket Australia. Mr McLachlan was made an Officer in the General Division of the Order of Australia on Australia Day, 1989 for his service to primary industry. He joined the Clean Seas Board in September 2005.
